Supernatural Season 14 Episode 1 "Stranger in a Strange Land" Review

Warning : Potential Spoilers Ahead.

Star Cast :

Regular - Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Alexander Calvert,

Guest - Samantha Smith, Jim Beaver.

Direction : Thomas J. Wright.

After the heartbreaking finale of season 13, where Dean Winchester was possessed by the archangel Michael, Supernatural has started its journey in the fourteenth season with a different approach. Instead of jumping into the immediate aftermath effects, we get the only partial revelation of Michael's plan as he was seen recruiting a vampire. Jensen Ackles had a complete 360-degree transformation from Dean to Michael, from his dialogue modulation to his attire.

In the case of Sam Winchester, the burden and pain of losing his beloved brother are visible in his actions. Kudos to Jared Padalecki for bringing the required depth and emotion in his performance. The leadership quality of Sam Winchester was displayed excellently. Mary Winchester once again proved that how badass hunter she was, especially in the bar fight against the demons.

Bringing back the fan-favorite Bobby proved to be a fruitful one, as he has taken up the mantle of training Jack. Even Castiel also share equal and important sequence with Jack during the final moments of the episode. One thing that stood out in this episode is the bar fight sequence with demons. Sam Winchester once again proves that why he was the strongest Winchester.

Liked :

1. Dean's new Avatar,

2. Castiel - Jack, Jack - Bobby Scenes,

3. Bar fight,

4. Sam Winchester.

Disliked :

1. Expected more from the New King of Hell Kip, 2. Unwanted return of Lucifer's vessel Nick.

The explanation for Nick being alive was given by Sam as he refers to the Archangel blade was designed not to wreck the human body but only to destroy the archangel inside the vessel. Barring this one uncomfortable reason, everything was great with the first episode of Season 14. I am eagerly looking forward to Michael's big plan regarding humanity and how he is planning to execute here.

P.S: So if Sam's going to hold the throne and stop every demon from being a King of Hell, does that technically make him the new King of Hell?

My Rating : ****
